The Boston Half Marathon course begins and ends in Boston's Franklin Park, one of the oldest parks in America. The rolling, out-and-back course runs along the Emerald Necklace Park System, proceeding out of Franklin Park, down Morton Street before turning around to run up the Arborway, along New Washington Street and Forest Hills Drive, toward the Arnold Arboretum. Runners head past Jamaica Pond and Olmsted Park, taking a right just after Leverett Pond toward the Jamaicaway. The course then passes Willow Pond and Olmsted Park before turning around on The Riverway. On the return, athletes hug the eastern side of the Emerald Necklace, with Leverett Pond, and Jamaica Pond on their right as they head back down the Arborway. After a pair of out-and-back sections on Circuit Drive, athletes re-enter Franklin Park and finish on Pierpont Road.
